Navy League Council Partners With NFL Alumni Association

On Tuesday January 12, 2021, the Central Jersey Council Navy League of the United States (CJCNLUS) became the first Council in Navy League history to partner with the National Football League’s Alumni Association.  This occurred after several meetings and a joint event in support of the Council’s gift giving ‘Angel Program’.

In mid-December the Central Jersey NFL Alumni Association and the Manasquan Police Department along with their PBA, united to collect over 300 toys for children from the US Navy and US Coast Guard units serving in NJ.  The NFL Alumni Assoc. also contributed $1,500 to our council in support of the ‘Sailor of the Year Program’.

Each organization is dedicated to assisting active duty military folks and their families as well as veterans.  Each group recognized the value of combining their individual efforts in support of the greater good.

Pictured below is Central Jersey Council President Greg Varga (L) and Central Jersey NFL Alumni Association President Michael Attardi (R).   President Attardi represents the numerous retired NFL Players who live and work in NJ.  Seen here is the ceremonial exchange of the Navy League’s cover (hat) and a check in support of the organization as both Presidents cement their relationship.

CJNLUS Joins NFL Alumni Association

According to NLUS records, this is perhaps the first ever affiliation between a major professional sports association and a Navy League council.

May fair winds and following sea’s prevail over both of these groups.
