On Thursday, July 4, 2019 the Council went aboard the US Coast Guard Cutter Katherine Walker to prepare and serve food to over 200 members of the crew, their families, small boat crews and guests. (See related article below)
The event was a smashing success and was topped off by a great show of Macy’s Fireworks. Behind the scenes two groups made our success possible.
The Milltown Home Depot substantially reduced the price for a new bar b que grill so that the 24 London broils and 500 Hot Dogs and Hamburgers could be grilled to perfection. The Home Depot also donated miscellaneous supplies and cooking utensils to ensure our grill masters had everything they needed to prepare for the day.
The Jersey Shore Bar B Que, located at 77 Tices Lane (just off Rt. 18) in East Brunswick donated 400 of their delicious smoked bar b que’d hot wings. This tasty treat was a smashing success for our adopted Coast Guard Sailors and their families. Jersey Shore’s donation is even more impressive when you consider that they stepped forward when those scantily clad orange hot pants wearing folks abruptly declined support after past donations. We are thankful to Doug and Denis and everyone at Jersey Shore Bar B Que for their kindness and Patriotic support to the crew of the US Coast Guard Cutter Katherine Walker. The Council urges all of our followers to now support them. Trust us, they are red, white and blue through and through and they have really excellent bar b que!
